THREE SIMPLE STEPS
How video to text works
Upload a video containing a speech track.
Run WhisperX on its audio.
Review the transcript and export text or subtitles.
Transcribe speech, not everything on screen
WhisperX works with the video’s audio track. It does not read slides, extract written text from frames, describe silent scenes, or generate a transcript for a video without speech. If you need slide text in the document, add it during your own review.
Keep video context while checking the words
Use playback to follow the conversation and correct names or technical terms. Look closely at points where an edit cuts off a word or background music covers a voice. The transcript follows the uploaded media timeline.
Move from transcript to captions
Choose TXT for a written record, JSON for structured timing data, or SRT/VTT for subtitle import. A caption file travels with your original video; the tool does not burn subtitles into a new video.

Supported recordings and limits
Upload MP4, MOV, or WebM video with a speech track. This hosted release supports English speech. Use a file you have permission to process; external links and live recording are not supported.
The one-time trial includes 5 processing minutes, with files up to 100 MB and 5 minutes long. Paid accounts support up to 500 MB and 60 minutes per file. Confirm the measured duration before starting; a failed task releases its reserved minutes. See the minute packs.
Choose the right next step
For a written draft from an audio recording, use audio to text. For interview turns and participant labels, explore speaker diarization. For caption import, use the subtitle generator.
All workflows use the same WhisperX engine and account. Your results are private, with 7-day trial retention and 30-day paid retention. Download what you need to keep. Read the workflow guide and recording privacy information before your first upload.
GOOD TO KNOW
Video to text questions
Can I paste a YouTube or video URL?
No. Upload a file you have permission to use. The service does not download content from external links.
Does video cost more than audio?
The confirmed media duration determines the charge. The same minute pricing applies to audio and video transcription.
Can I download a video with captions burned in?
The service exports caption files. Import an SRT or VTT file into your video editor or player to display captions; rendered video export is not included.
